Note the date on this bulletin. It is already November 14. In a little over two weeks Thanksgiving will be here and then just thirty short days later, Christmas. Just one week after Christmas will be New Years Day, January 1, 2005. Where has the year gone? As we prepare for the holiday season ahead, we need to stop and take time to retlect for what we are thankful.
Just think what has happened in the month of November alone! On November 2, we as a nation elected/leaders to run our country, some people who were in leadership roles were not reelected and yet they will leave powerful offices without fighting and bloodshed. This is something for which we should be thankful.
On November 11, we honored our veterans who have fought in past conflicts to either gain our freedom or to protect our freedom from those who would like to take it away from us. Hopefully, you also thought about those who are now fighting to extend freedom to other people throughout the world.
On November 25, we celebrate Thanksgiving, a day set aside to give thanks for all our blessings. Just think of the blessing we have of remission of our sins because of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yes, we truly have many things for which we should be thankful.
