Summer Vacation Time

 by Paul D. Fisher

The days of summer are upon us and with these days come vacations. As you plan your vacation, do not forget God in all your plans. Not only figure out where you will be on Sundays and Wednesday, but try and find out beforehand if there is a faithful congregation of the Lord's people in that area and what time they meet. This can be done several ways such as books like "Where the Saints Meet," which lists many, if not all, the Lord's churches in the USA, or go online and use many of the online services to find out where the Lord's church is where you are going. This way you do not have to get up on Sunday morning and start wondering and trying to find if there is a local congregation where you are.

Remember too, that our local work continues whether you are here or not, and your contribution is needed to carry out that work. Make arrangements either to put in the contribution before you go or to make it up when you come back. This way we do not fall short of the weekly budget during the summer. This can easily be done if we will just follow the example of the Macedonian congregations of 2 Corinthians 8:5, who gave themselves first to the Lord. Also we need to remember the exhortation of 2 Corinthians 9:7, and give as we have purposed with a loving heart. May God bless us and keep us as we enjoy our vacations and may we not forget Him!
