Jesus answered the temptatica of Satan to change
stoues into bread, because of Jesus' hunger, with these words, "...It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God." Jesus wanted Satan and all
of us to know that there is more to life than just physical food. True,
our physical bodies must receive nourishment, but we are more than just
physical, there is the part of man that is made m the image of God, and
that part requires nourishmint as well. Sadly, we see many people who would
never miss a physical meal starve their souls. They never feed that part
of themselves that was made m God's image, and is eternal, they never feed
their Soul.
Jesus taught how we are to feed that eternal, spiritual part of ourselves, with the word of God. In fact, Jesus taught that He was the bread of life in John 6:35. "...I am the bread of !ife: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thlrst." This is, in part, the reason that Paul, by inspiration, wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The greatest reason to be feeding your soul with the nourishrmmt of God is found in John 12:48, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him on the last day. Are you feeding your soul with a proper diet of God's word or does your soul suffer from malnourishment and starvation?
