Snow

The word "snow" is found only three times in the New Testament. It is used once to describe the appearance of the angel who rolled back the stone of the empty tomb where Jesus had been placed three days earlier (Matthew 28:3). It is used twice to describe the appearance of Jesus. Once in Mark 9:3, where is describes His clothing, "And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them." The Holy Spirit wanted to impress upon us the brightness of the glory of Jesus with this description. Just think how bright and white new snow looks when it reflects sunlight, and this really cannot compare to the glory of Jesus or God. The final time is in Revelation 1:14, "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;' This time "white as snow" reflects the appearance of Jesus' hair in His glory.

Snow is used in Isaiah 1:18 to contrast the sins of Israel which is pictured as red as crimson, to how God can make them white as snow. This is what the blood of Jesus Christ can do for us today. The blood of Jesus can take our sins as red as crimson and make them white as snow. Have you had your sins wash away in the blood of Jesus Christ as Saul did in Acts 22:16.

Do You Have Certainties In Your Life?

 by Paul D. Fisher

The only two things that are certain in this life are death and taxes! How many times have you heard that statement? For many people this is all the certainties they have in life, but for the Christian we have many more. We have the certainty of God, that He exists and that He is creator of the universe. This can be seen in part by nature as David said in Psalms 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork." We have the certainty of God's care and concern for His creation for Jesus said in Matthew 10:29-31, "Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." Our value is so great that we have the certainty of God's love revealed in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life " In the story of the prodigal son, Jesus showed us another certainty that we can have with God and that is the certainty of forgiveness of our sins if we repent and return to Him in faithful obedience. As Christians, we have the certainty of knowing God's will for us today for we read in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." With God we have many certainties and these mention are only a few of the many certainties that we can have.
