RECONCILE

   by Paul D. Fisher...March 16,2003

In the Greek language of the New Testament,"katallasso" is translated "reconcile," This Greek word properly denoted the change or exchange of money; to change from enmity to friendship when used about people. This is the best thought when used about God and mankind. Reconciliation is what God accomplished through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. In Jesus' death on tho cross and the reconciliation that it accomplished, we see the great grace of God extended toward mankind. Man, through his obedience to God's will, is reconciled by Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

In Romans 5:10-11, we read, "For if, when we were caemien, we ware nwonciled to God by the death of his Son, much mmv, being reconciled we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have now received the reconciliation." This shows the attitude of God that He does not want anyone to perish, but wants all people to repent of their sins and turn to Him in faitlfful obedience to His will. As one searches ail the scriptures which speak of reconciliation, not once do we find that God needed to be reconciled to man, but man to God. What about you, have you been reconciled to God by your faithful obedience to His will or are you still in your sins?
