Our team returned from Lima, Peru, Saturday afternoon
about 5:00 P.M. We had a great trip and bring you greetings from your brothers
and sisters in Peru. The ten sets of Concordances and Dictionaries were
greatly welcomed by the preachers. I was informed that the same two books
in Peru would have cost about 1,000 Solace or about $300.00. We were able
to purchase them for about $65.00 a set here in the states, thanks to your
generous support.
Words cannot describe accurately the sights, sounds and smells that we dealt with each day in and around the medical compound. Our doctors saw 1484 patients from Saturday afternoon until Wednesday evening. The dentist saw 4011 patients and extracted 321 teeth. The pharmacy had 1592 patients with 6995 prescriptions. The young people gave 375 people head washing who had lice. The eyeglass crew saw 754 patients and gave out 700 pairs of glasses. We had one group of ladies who taught 462 children during the week and the teen evening class had 307 teenagers. The evangelism teams conducted 338 studies to 466 people and from this group 36 people were baptized and 2 were restored. One of the ladies with which there was a study and a positive response on her part died within 24 hours of becoming a Christian. All 241 Spanish language Bibles that we took with us were put to good use. We look forward to hearing of more response in the coming weeks and months from this effort that this congregation had a big part in, not only financially but also with sweat, tears, hugs and laughter. Our Peruvian brethren are working hard at helping one another stay strong in the Lord and grow. They want your prayers as they pray often for us!
