GOOD REASONS NOT TO BE SAVED
Ted Clarke, September 3, 2006
I have listed below all the good reasons I know of
for one not being saved from his or her sins.
-
One, you do not believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that
He died on the cross to save you from an eternal hell fire (John 8:24;
Hebrews 11:6).
-
Two, you are not ready to repent of the sins you are committing that will
send you to hell forever and ever (Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Peter
3:9).
-
Three, you are not willing to confess before others that you believe that
Jesus can save you from everlasting torment (Malthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10).
-
Four, you are not willing to be baptized (immersed) in water in the name
of Jesus Christ in order to have your sins washed away so that you can
avoid the penalty of everlasting pouishment from the presence of God (Mark
16:16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21).
-
Five, you are not willing to try to live faithfully as a Christian depending
upon the shed blood of Christ to keep on forgiving you of the sins that
will send you to a place of weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth where
there is no end (2 Thessalonlans 1:7-10; Romans 12:1-2).
Now, these are "good" reasons not because they are proper
excuses that God will accept, but they are good reasons because as long
a you let any one of
these reasons listed stand between you and God--you cannot and will
not be saved!
However, if you believe Jesus is God's Son, why not repent
and confess His name and submit to being baptized in onter to be saved?
If you are a Christian but an erring child of God, why not repent and confess
your sins, praying to God for forgiveness? You might try to put hell out
of your mind, but it is real and horrible and forever (Mark 9:42-48; Luke
16:24-26; Revelation 20:11-15). Can you really face that day with the prospect
of being eternally lost and punished forever? Eternity in heaven with God
and Jesus who loved us and died for us is a truly good reason to obey the
gospel or to be restored to faithfulness. Do it now while you are thinkin~
about it!
