WHAT IS THAT IN THINE HAND?
by Paul D. Fisher

We all can identify with Moses. God told him the job He wanted Moses to do and immediately Moses began to make excuses. God wants you and me to teach His word to others and immediately the excuses begin. We quickly forget that God has not asked us to first memorize the whole Bible, or anything like that, before we go and teach others. In Exodus 4:2, we find God asking Moses the question that is the title of this article. It wasn't that God did not know that Moses had a staff in his hand, but Moses did not realize what God could do with that staff. We forget that all God has told us to do is to take His word, the Bible, to other people. God does not send us out empty handed to face people all on our own.  God has prepared His all powerful word for us to take, which according to Romans 1:16, is His power unto salvation. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." The Bible is His word and just think what it can do. "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" Hebrews 4:12. Remember Moses' staff turned into a serpent. Just think what the Bible in your hands can do!
