GENESIS: God's Book of Beginnings

In the book of Genesis we find the beginning of many things, including our universe. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). This is how we are introduced to God in His word. God, the eternal being, created every good and perfect thing that we have in our universe.

One of the things that God created was time as we know time. At the end of the first day of creation we find these words, 'And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night And the evening and the morning were the first day.' Here is time as we know it, a morning and an evening, a set period of time which God called the first day.

We need to read the first two chapters of the book of Genesis with a sense of awe and wonder. Just what type of power does our God possess that He can speak and out of nothing things are created? We need to go outside on a clear night and look into the heavens at all the stars and see the power and might of our God. We need to look into the eyes of a little baby and see the wonderment as they see and experience new things, things that we just take for granted. Brethren, we need to remember and keep in our hearts that same wonderment and try to realize just what our God created. We need to remember every morning and every evening that "In the beginning God created..."
