Euthanasia comes from two Geek words, "eu" means good or well and "thanatos" which means death. In our language the word means "good death." It is sometimes referred to as "mercy killing or most of us know it as killing a sick or diseased animal where there is not hope of getting better to end the animal's suffering, Nov., we hear people expressing the desire to have the same right to end their life when they want. The state of Oregon passed a 'Right to Die" bill in 1997 and we remember Dr, Jack Kevorkian, a Michigan physician, who assisted some people to die.
One reason behind the growing popularity of euthanasia is the idea that we can either die a good death (when and how we/chose) or a bad death (dying naturally) The concept is all pain is bad is another factor behind those who are pushing for laws allowing euthanasia or "Death with Dignity." In the end it might also be reasoned that once a society starts killing off of its population (abortion), it becomes easier to look at the other end and start killing that end off as well (euthanasia). This can happen as a direct belief in evolution which teaches that man evolved from lower life forms and is just another animal. One important factor that many who push for euthanasia forget is that man will appear before God to give account of his life. This same God has condemned murder, and suicide is the murder of self. Plus, if you believe God's word in the Bible) to be true, then death is not a relief from pain for the sinful according to, ]esus (Luke 16:2.} A Christian should do all that he or she can to help those who are in pain to be comforted, but sometimes it is pain that causes some people to finally look to God and get their lives right with Him.
