Courage is a characteristic of all of God's faithful followers. In Acts 28:15, we find the word courage used as a noun which means "to be of good cheer." 'And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and tool courage. ' The apostle Paul took courage in this case because of the brethren who heard he was coming and traveled out to meet him. This is an often overlooked aspect of our attendance at all services, the encouragement we ourselves gain by being here and also the encouragement that others gain just by seeing you here! As a gospel preacher, I gain courage by the fact that many times when I come to the building before services, some of you are already here. This may seem like such a little thing to some, but it is a source of encouragement. We can gain courage from others, it is contagious. Notice the apostle Paul contracted it from his contact with other brethren. Here is something that all Christians can do if they are willing to be with other Christians, they can be filled with courage or filled with good cheer. This is something that should exemplify the Christian as a follower of God. We have life everlasting. We, of all people, should be courageous people. God's people have been in the past and if we are to be a part of God's people we will have courage today!
