Opportunities For Christ To Be Seen In Our Lives

 by Paul D. Fisher 3/27/05

How often have you thought, "What can I do for Christ?" This is a good question and one that needs to be answered because there are opportunities for Christ to be seen in our lives every day. These opportunities are not just limited to Sunday services or to Bible classes, they can be found everywhere. In fact, many of them we do every day without ever realizing that they are opportunities at all. This is the reason for the theme of our Lectureship, to help us recognize some of these opportunities and to expand into unrecognized areas. One of the opportunities we have is in the preparation for this meeting. Prayers need to be lifted up to God on behalf of this effort, for the speakers, for our hearts to be open and attentive to God's word and for the attendance of all our congregation at each one of the services. Here is an opportunity open for everyone of us that is not limited by age or whether we are male or female.

When we look at Christian growth we see great opportunities for Christ throughout our whole lives. As Christians, we should be leaders in every aspect of our lives, in our homes, our jobs and especially with our families. When we look at the local congregation we again see many opportunities for Christ to be seen in our lives. How we act and react to one another, to church leadership and even our attendance all are opportunities. Benevolence is another area in which every Christian has opportunity for Christ to be seen in our lives. Remember Jesus said if we give just a cup of cold water in His name we have reward, and think of Dorcas in Acts 9, who made and gave clothing to those in need. Another opportunity we have for Christ to be seen in our lives is in the area of living a life of light as Jesus commanded in Matthew 5:1416. Moving outside our comfort zone is an area of opportunity that we often ignore, because it takes real faith to take advantage of these opportunities. We have opportunities to respond to the mission field, both local and foreign, as another way in which Christ can be seen in our lives.

Finally, when we are faced with opportunities for Christ to be seen in our lives, do we act or react to those opportunities. Of course, we miss some opportunities that come our way for one reason or another, but that is normal. Fortunately, throughout our Christian lives we are given many opportunities for Christ to be seen in us! I hope that you begin to make plans fight now to attend each and every service of our lectureship. All of the speakers are men that are graduating this May from the Bible Institute of Missouri. These men have just given two years of their lives to prepare themselves to take advantage of the opportunity to preach the soul-saving gospel of Jesus Christ!
