Attitude Not Altitude Determines How High We Live!

by Paul D. Fisher

Our attitude determines how we approach and handle so many of life's problems. It is our attitude which determines if the glass is half full or half empty. Our Savior, Jesus Christ had a lot to say about attitudes and how they affect us and our approach to God.  Jesus said the best attitude we can have when it comes to God is that of humbletude (of course this is not a real word but it gets the point across.)

When we come to God we should come in an humble attitude, being in awe of who it is that we are approaching. Peter said for us to, " Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:" 1 Peter 5:6.  James wrote by inspiration of God, "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." James 4:10. Jesus said, "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4. In fact, Jesus said there is a direct collation between our attitude and our altitude in Mathew 18:2-3, "And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,  And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. "

To get to heaven we must first through faithful obedience to God's will, adjust our attitude. We must lay aside pride and selfishness and humble ourselves before God in faithful obedience to His will.  Pride is the opposite of humbleness and those who think high and mighty of themselves really are weighted down to the point that if they never shed pride and selfishness they will never gain the altitude of heaven. How high are you living?
