Remember?

by Paul D. Fisher  December 7, 03

As I grew up, it was impressed upon me that December 7, 1941, was an important day to remember. It was on this day that the United States became directly involved in World War 2 by an attack on our forces at Pearl Harbor. Now, the date of September 11, 2001 is another date that many people in the U.S. remember as an important date, again because this country was attacked.

It is important for us to remember certain dates and events that cause great change in our lives! Most of us remember dates such as when we graduated from high school or college. Another important date to remember, if you are married, is your wedding date (wives seem to remember this date better than husbands). Then, we remember the days when our children were bom and if old enough, our grandchildren. All of these dates and events are important for us to remember because each one had a profound effect on our lives. Our lives were never the same after each one of these dates and events took placel

As important as all these dates are to remember, there is one that eclipses all these dates and events! That day is one that changed the whole world for all times. That day is not a birthday but it is a resurrection day, the day that Jesus Christ came forth victorious over death. This is the day we should remember, not just once a year, but each and every first day of the week. That is the reason for having the Lord's Supper, to bring back to our remembrance His death for our sins, His burial and greatest of all His resurrection! Remember!
