In Mark chapter eight, we are told that Jesus had compassion on the multitude of people who had been with Him for three days. It was 'His intention that they should eat something before they returned to their homes, so He questioned His apostles about how much food they had. The answer was only seven loaves of bread and a few small fishes, hardly enough for Jesus and His twelve apostles. Yet in the hands of Jesus, this was an abundant amount of food to feed four thousand! Jesus gave thanks for the food to His Father and then commanded the people to sit down and eat.
In verse eight we read, "So they did eat, and were filled: and they
took up of the broken meat that was left seven basket~ ' The Greek word
here means abundance and when you think about the amount of food they started
with and how many ate of that food, seven baskets of leftovers was truly
an abundance. This is another example of how a little in the hands of God
becomes much. This is something that we need to understand and believe
will happen today, not physically with food, but spiritually. If we will
give ourselves to God, great things can happen. He can take us, just like
those seven little loaves, in His hands to abundant things. Will you allow
God to use you? God's word can bring an abundance of blessings. Will you
take His word to others?
